Functions for dealing with Excel spreadsheets.

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.convert_for_openpyxl(x: Any) → Any[source]

Converts known “unusual” data types to formats suitable for openpyxl. Specifically, handles:

pendulum.datetime.DateTime
semantic_version.Version
uuid.UUID

Parameters:: x¶ – a data value
Returns:: the same thing, or a more suitable value!

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.convert_for_pyexcel_ods3(x: Any) → Any[source]

Converts known “unusual” data types to formats suitable for pyexcel-ods3. Specifically, handles:

pendulum.datetime.DateTime
datetime.datetime
semantic_version.Version
None
numpy.float64
uuid.UUID

Parameters:: x¶ – a data value
Returns:: the same thing, or a more suitable value!

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.excel_to_bytes(wb: Workbook) → bytes[source]: Obtain a binary version of an openpyxl.Workbook representation of an Excel file.
