Functions for dealing with Excel spreadsheets.

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.convert_for_openpyxl(x: Any) Any[source]

Converts known “unusual” data types to formats suitable for openpyxl. Specifically, handles:

  • pendulum.datetime.DateTime

  • semantic_version.Version

  • uuid.UUID

Parameters:

x – a data value

Returns:

the same thing, or a more suitable value!

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.convert_for_pyexcel_ods3(x: Any) Any[source]

Converts known “unusual” data types to formats suitable for pyexcel-ods3. Specifically, handles:

  • pendulum.datetime.DateTime

  • datetime.datetime

  • semantic_version.Version

  • None

  • numpy.float64

  • uuid.UUID

Parameters:

x – a data value

Returns:

the same thing, or a more suitable value!

cardinal_pythonlib.excel.excel_to_bytes(wb: Workbook) bytes[source]

Obtain a binary version of an openpyxl.Workbook representation of an Excel file.
